Kate learned how to ride her bike when she was six years old, and didn’t start racing until about three years later. She played many sports growing up including soccer, swim team, cross country, track, and of course cycling. She races cyclocross for a team named RedZone. She races in the Ohio Valley with lots of other junior teams. Kate also known as K8 Monster is known around the Ohio Valley for her race face. Aside from biking, Kate enjoys playing the violin in her school orchestra. She also runs cross country and track for her school. Kate’s goals are to become a national champion and a surgeon.
Kate usually races in the 13-14 category. She has tight competition with her two other teammates. All three of them usually take the podium. Kate had her first Elite U19 cyclocross race during the cyclocross season of 2015. Kate got second place in her first Elite U19 race; and fourth place in the second. Kate is now looking forward to racing more road with TWENTY16.

What inspired you to become a bike rider?
My dad does cyclocross, so when I learned how to ride a bike, I started biking with him until I found a good team to ride for and trained and raced with them.
Who is an inspiration to you in your life, on and off the bike?
My inspiration in life would have to be Katie Compton and my parents. My parents inspire me to work hard in everything I do and be the best me. Katie Compton inspires me to race harder.
Favorite meal when training?
I like all types of food but my favorite when training is grilled cheese.
The best thing about bike racing?
The best thing about biking to me is meeting new people and winning.
What is your biggest accomplishment on the bike?
Winning the overall OVCX Cyclocross series 3 times.
Favorite place you've raced your bike and why?
My favorite place I have raced my bike is Austin, Texas for Cyclocross Nationals. Although this race was not one of my best, it was such an awesome experience to race there. It was much different than riding in Louisville.
Favorite cross training or off season activity?
Cross-Country running and track.
Best tip for a new bike racer?
Never give up and be the best you.
What are one or two things that you do daily that are the key to your success?
- Eat and drink healthy
- Train
If you weren't bike racing what would you be?
I would be running more often than I already am.
What is something that nobody knows about you?
I hate chocolate.
Why is continued education important?
I believe all athletes should have a higher education alongside their sports as a back up. There is life outside of sports and you will need this education at one time in your life.
What does Ridebiker Alliance mean to you?
I love biking so it's nice to see people extending the cycling family and changing the sport.
