Marta was born into an active family who had a passion for skiing, cycling, climbing, and anything outdoors. When she was barely two she made her first turns at Snowmass. As she grew older her competitive side began to show, and she joined the local ski team as well as competed in gymnastics. All was going well until she had an accident in 2008, and broke her leg. Cycling became therapy, and the rest is history. Marta has raced for Two Rivers Cycling, JETCycling, and currently races for the Twenty16 Junior Development Team. She has eleven State Championship wins, two National medals, and two international podiums.

If you weren’t bike racing, you would be...?
A swimmer, Nordic skier, or backcountry skier.

What made you want to become a bike racer?

When I was ten I was in a bad ski racing accident and broke my tibia. I spend 6 weeks in a full leg cast, and as soon as they put me into a short cast I started going to the gym and taking spin classes. Finally, the cast was removed and I got a road bike and started races a few months later.

Who is an inspiration to you in your life, both on and off the bike?
